The City of Emporia Police Department is seeking qualified individuals interested in a career in law enforcement. Are you that individual looking to make a difference in our community? Training is provided through the Emporia Police Department and certification by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. We also offer many opportunities to be involved in different aspects of law enforcement such as Bicycle Unit, Field Training Officer, Criminal Investigation, Narcotics, Special Response Team and Honor Guard.
Salary/Benefits: Non certified applicants start at an annual base salary of $37,835. The base salary range for certified/lateral transfers is higher based on experience and with approval from the Chief of Police. A sign-on bonus of $1,500. is also available upon completion of program criteria.
The EPD offers an excellent benefit package including KP&F retirement, health insurance, vacation, holiday pay, sick leave, deferred comp program, two bonus personal days, uniform cleaning and fitness facility discounts. All uniforms and equipment are furnished.
Requirements/Testing: This position requires a willingness to work all rotating shifts which include days, evenings and nights plus some weekends and holidays.
Applicants must be 21 years of age, a U.S. Citizen, possess a high school diploma, GED or equivalent, reside in Lyon County or any adjoining county, possess or be able to obtain a valid Kansas driver’s license and must not have been convicted of any felony crime or a crime involving Domestic Violence.

When you are notified of a test date you will progress through a written test, oral interview, background investigation, psychological tests, polygraph and medical physical exam.
