Detention Deputy (Norton County Sheriff, KS)
The Norton County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Detention Deputy for the Norton County Jail. This is a Full Time Position.
The Detention Deputy is responsible for oversight of inmates in a jail environment. Duties include but are not limited to oversight of inmate activities and requests, security checks and management of jail policies and regulations adherence. Deputy may be required to attend a part time police academy.
Type: Full Time
Salary: The current starting rate is $18.75 an hour. Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4PM. Benefits include overtime, sick leave, vacation, single health insurance, dental, optometry, retirement plan, uniforms and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications No Experience required although candidates are expected to achieve a level of proficiency within 6 months.
21 years of age or older
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Drivers License, with no felony convictions and certain misdemeanor convictions and be able to complete background and psychological exams.
