The City of Alma, Kansas, is accepting applications for the full-time position of City Marshal. Kansas KLETC certification is required. The Marshal performs a variety of routine and complex police work and must be able to work in close concert with the Wabaunsee County Attorney and Sheriff's Office. This position also includes Code Enforcement officer.
This employee must have excellent communication, organizational, reasoning and public relations skills. The employee in this position enforces all federal, state, and local laws in accordance with departmental rules and regulations. Duties include but are not limited to enforcing traffic laws, investigation of crimes and accidents, and providing public assistance. Applicants must be willing to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as required on-call time.
Qualifications: Must be 21 years of age or older; a U.S. citizen; have a valid driver's license with a good driving record, a high school diploma or equivalent; be in good physical condition; and have a good criminal record free of any serious traffic, misdemeanor, or felony convictions. The successful applicant must complete a background check, drug screen, and pass the interview process.
Salary depends on qualifications/experience with a range of eighteen to twenty-one dollars. The City Benefit package consists of health insurance, KPERS, vacation, paid holidays, and sick leave.
