CHIEF OF POLICE

THE CITY OF ONAGA, KANSAS, is accepting applications for the full-time position (hours can vary) of full-time position of Chief of Police. The Chief performs a variety of routine and complex police work. This position also includes Code Enforcement officer. This employee must have excellent communication, organizational, reasoning and public relation skills. The employee in this position enforces all federal state, and local laws in accordance with departmental rules and regulations. Duties include but are not limited to enforcing traffic laws, investigation of crimes and accidents and providing public assistance.

Applicant must be willing to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as required on-call time.

Qualifications: Must be 21 years of age or older; a U.S. citizen; have a valid driver's license with a good driving record, a high school diploma or equivalent; be in good physical condition; and have a good criminal record free of any serious traffic, misdemeanor, or felony convictions. Must provide current Kansas law enforcement certification from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. City residency preferred. Salary will be based on education and experience.
