The Trego County Sheriff's Office is taking applications for the position of Full-Time Deputy Sheriff. Under the supervision of the Trego County Sheriff, the Deputy Sheriff performs general law enforcement duties in the protection of life and property within Trego County. Duties will include patrolling county areas, working in the jail, along with transporting inmates, criminal investigations, enforcing all State and local laws, securing compliance with traffic violations, serving civil process and making preliminary investigations at the scene of a crime or traffic accident. The employee in this position must be able to act without direct supervision and to exercise independent judgment in handling emergencies. Trego County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

SALARY: Salary is dependent on any previous law enforcement experience or other qualifying experience and education in related field. Benefits include fully paid single plan health insurance, KPERS retirement, and take-home patrol vehicle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
• Must be able to pass psychological and physical screenings.
• Undergo applicable background checks.
• Kansas Driver's License.
• 21 years of age.
• No Felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.
• KLETC Certification is preferred but not required.
• Applicants must reside within Trego County within 30 days of hire date.
