Message From the President

Police Chief (Minneola, KS)

The City of Minneola is currently seeking a professional, highly motivated, problem solving, and community oriented individual for the position of Chief of Police. Minneola, population 800, is located in 20 miles south of Dodge City, Kansas in Clark County, and is a progressive rural community with a friendly, small town atmosphere.

This full-time, salaried position is located in Minneola, Kansas; and is directly supervised by the Mayor and City Council Members. The successful applicant will be required to live within the city limits of Minneola.

BENEFITS: Starting salary is negotiable, based on qualifications and experience. The salary range for the position is between $45,000 and $55,000. In addition to salary, the position includes KP & F retirement, optional deferred compensation, holidays, and sick and vacation leave.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be a Kansas certified Police Officer by the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Commission with a minimum of 6 years of law enforcement experience. The successful applicant will demonstrate skills in management, team building, reporting, budgeting, emergency management, and coordinating activities with other agencies. Good communication skills, both oral and written, and public relations skills are required. No DUI within the past five years, has not been convicted, does not have an expunged conviction and has not been placed on diversion by any state or federal government for a crime that is a felony, misdemeanor domestic violence or its equivalent under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Must be a Citizen of the United States. Must have a thorough knowledge of all applicable state criminal laws and ordinances. Position requires patrol duties. The successful applicant must pass a background check, drug screening, pre-employment physical, and must be a credible witness in court.

1) a letter of interest;

2) a detailed resume, including a valid email address and phone number;

3) transcript/certification/training material (copies of official transcripts/certifications, specialized training attained);

4) an authorization to release information form **Please note, this form must be signed in front of and notarized by a notary public**. The City of Minneola reserves the right to conduct a background check on all qualified applicants.

5) Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate
