NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS

Instructions:

  • A brief synopsis of the events relative to the nomination MUST be submitted on the nomination form.

  • A more detailed description of the activity or event for which the individual is being nominated for can be provided with the nomination.

  • You may attach up to five pages, one sided, of supporting documents to support your nomination.

  • The time frame for the event, or activity, in which you are nominating an individual shall be between September 1 of the proceeded year and September 1 of the current year.

To Submit:

  • Kansas Sheriffs' Association Awards Online Nominations Form (please complete the online nomination form above for each nomination). The detailed description of the event and supporting documents will be uploaded to the form.

  • All online forms should be submitted electronically no later than 5 PM on September 2. You will get a confirmation email after submission. If you have any questions, reach out to: Sheriff Andy Dedeke, Awards Committee Chairperson by email to ksaawards@lvsheriff.org or by phone at 913-682-5724.

AWARD CATEGORIES

  • Sheriff of the Year - Nominee must be a current member of the Kansas Sheriffs Association.

  • Deputy Sheriff of the Year - Nominee must be a certified or provisionally certified employee of the Sheriff's Office at the time of the heroic event.

  • Detention Officer of the Year - Nominee must be an employee of the Sheriff's Office who has exhibited professionalism and dedication to the Office.

  • Employee of the Year - Nominee must be an employee of the Sheriff's Office or affiliated in the mission of the Sheriff's office. This includes Communications Officers, Secretaries, part-time Deputies and Reserve Deputies.

  • President's Award - Nominee considerations are outstanding vision, dedication, commitment to Kansas Public Safety, exceptional leadership, and devoted service to the Citizens of Kansas.

  • KSA Citizens Award - Nominees are a citizen performing an act in direct support of a law enforcement officer in the official discharge of his/her duties.

  • Life Saving Award - Acknowledges a Sheriff's Office employee who exhibited exceptional skill and composure during a critical incident, resulting in a life being saved.
