The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office is seeking quality candidates that are committed to public service for the position of Deputy. The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office consists of 21 sworn members dedicated to the citizens of Dickinson County. Patrol deputies assigned areas for crime prevention and enforcement of criminal laws, traffic laws, and county ordinances. Deputies respond to calls for service including assisting other law enforcement agencies within Dickinson County when needed.

Salary: $20.04 per hour for non-certified with an increase based on years of certified law enforcement experience. Benefits include a rotating 12 hour shift schedule with every other weekend off, KP&F retirement, take home patrol car if residing within Dickinson County, health insurance, paid holidays, personal leave, sick leave, and vacation leave.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have a High School diploma or the equivalent (College preferred)
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under Dickinson County's fleet insurance policy
  • Must successfully pass an extensive background investigation
  • Must successfully pass the National Police Officer Selection Test (NPOST)
  • Must successfully pass all required psychological testing
  • Must successfully pass all required fitness for duty and drug screen testing
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have the flexibility to adapt to new ideas and changing conditions
  • Must have the ability to make decisions, act quickly and remain calm during stressful situations
  • No felony or domestic violence conviction, including diversions and expungements
