FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER

The City of Hiawatha is located in Northeast Kansas, approximately 12 miles south of Falls City, NE and 40 miles west of St. Joseph, MO. Hiawatha is a progressive community with excellent schools and outdoor activities. The population is approximately 3,200. The department is staffed with 10 full-time certified officers, 1 Records Clerk and 1 Municipal Court Clerk.

Type: Full Time

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 21 years of age
• HS Diploma or GED
• No felony convictions, diversion or expungements
• No conviction for domestic battery
• Must not have a history of criminal or improper personal conduct that may affect suitability for performing police work
• Valid Kansas Drivers License within 6 months
• Good Moral Character
• Must pass Background Investigation, Physical Exam, Drug Screen, Psychological Evaluation
• Must reside within neighboring counties or in the city of Hiawatha, KS within 6 months
• Ability to successfully complete all steps in the hiring process
